[ hi we're up on the flight deck with a coffee in hand, staring out at the empty runway.

he will glance up to see who has joined him, looking a little weary already. ]

[ aint that a mood. strohl's here and since it's affection week, he claps him on the shoulder. ]

Mordalion. Bit weird not to have half our number dead already, isn't it?

[ ah, physical affection. his ears twitch slightly in surprise, having resisted the charms of affection week rather pointlessly until now. ]

One is still one too many, but the lack of general daily morbidity is almost a pleasant change. [ sighs. ] Have your team... sorted themselves out, Strohl?

[ looks into the camera like this is the office ]

Yeah? [ a beat. ]

...You've got Hulkenberg with you, right?

Yes, she's on our team. It's good to have the closest thing to a familiar face around, though I guess you must miss her?

I - well, it wasn't exactly great to be cut off from her last night knowing what was coming.

[ so yes but that's embarrassing. ]

...If we get forced into that again, would you do me a favour and just - keep an eye on her? Make sure she's alright?

[ sips his coffee casually. ]

She's a strong and capable woman, if a little bit on the formal side... however. [ nods. ] Clingy, too. Made quite a scene of her displeasure, last night. So I suppose you're both clingy.

[ WOW!!! SHOOTS HIM A LOOK ]

Clingy - ugh, no! [ yes ] Look, we've been traveling together for months now, and it's a bit weird to suddenly be separated from someone when you know someone's going to get murdered, inevitably, the next day!

[ tilts his head at the Look. he senses perhaps he has said something out of line. maybe. ]

I've seen it in others, before. The clinginess. It's probably normal. [ nods... again....... ] To the best of my increasingly limited abilities, though, I will keep an eye on her. Hulkenberg's pleasant to be around.

[ he's just a giant weenie

he sighs and rubs his temples. ] Thanks. [ dry ] ...you've got that right, though, on limited. At least before, I could sort of access my archetype. Here, I've nothing.

week 1!!! tuesday!!!

[ we are at beautiful scawwy village!! scawwy village sucks actually, but strohl's taken the tree out to the animal crossing island - which means he's standing out in a field, hands on his hips, clearly just enjoying being outside. ]

Nice to be out of that place, isn't it? [ by way of greeting! he waves a bit, clearly at home amongst the farmboy life... ] Mordalion.

[ honestly this guy's looking a bit relieved to be outdoors, too. there's plants... even if they're all spooky-themed and not the lush, colourful tropicals and flowers he was craving. oh well. ]

Staying indoors all the time is bad for health. [ lifts a hand to wave back. ] The mood here is pretty unpleasant, though.

Suppose that's why it's called [ airquotes: ] "scawwy". Still, it's better than the damned terminal.

One of the others told me there's some tree you can climb through that'll take you somewhere else in here, crazy as that is. Want to give it a shot?

ANYWAY IN THE RIGHT PLACE THIS TIME after all that strohl can be found sitting probably on the terrace. the most exciting thing is that strohl jr is here with him still, cutely yawning and cuddled into his side. he's just kind of staring off into the place where execution will be, but he glances up at mordalion when he comes by, then nods, if he wants to sit. ]

[ he will sit, taking his sword in its wrappings from his waist and propping it in the crook of his arm.

it's rare for him to struggle to find words. ]

Going through this again is a cruel thing for you to be forced to experience.

[ strohl jr immediately tries to climb onto mordalion's lap. love him.

strohl sr lets this happen - he makes a soft noise, a humourless chuff. ]

More so for Vi, than me. [ but, he doesn't disagree. yeah it sucked ]

Yes, crueler for her. I can't tell her that now, though.

[ oh. creatura. he will allow this and give strohl jr a gentle pat. ]

[ strohl jr is so thrilled by this.

strohl sr sighs. ]

No. I know the kind of temper I have - it'd just make me angrier, and I don't want to give her the satisfaction. [ glancing sideways... ] Did you?

Ah, you've matured a bit.

[ priceless coming from this guy, but. anyway. he shakes his head. ]

No. I considered it, to try and provoke a motive - but there are better things to do with this time.

[ he snorts a little at that. ]

Thanks. [ wryly. it has been some time since he was in final, and... well, he got his tantrum out on friday.... anyway, ]

If I had to guess, it was for one of those things in the cases. I don't think she was taken over.

...Hulkenberg and I discussed this briefly, and came to the same conclusion. Those items are tests of willpower, and those with weakened conduct and familiarity with killing would be particularly susceptible.

[ closes his eyes, thinking. ]

Her world sounded like it needed the help, from what she spoke of it during the gift exchange.

Yes, well. So does ours - and I don't need to murder anyone for it.

[ oh there's some of that anger, whip quick - but it fades. ]

It's no excuse. ... Part of the reason why I'm even more glad we brought her to heel. We'll find out tomorrow if we were truly correct or not, but I'd stake it all on the fact that we were.
